We are delighted to announce the opening of the latest Rise franchise in Brighton.
The franchise will be run by Pam Gordon, offering our seated sports activities in locations in and around Brighton and Hove.
Pam lost her grandfather last November and felt inspired to create a business that would improve people’s wellbeing in his memory.
A franchise sector expert, Pam knew our co-founder, Trevor Brocklebank. When she heard he had set up Rise and our unique seated sports programme Pam knew she had found the perfect business opportunity.
Commenting, Pam said, “I was fortunate to receive a small inheritance from my grandfather and decided to put it to good use by setting up Rise in my home town.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity to work at the heart of the local community. As well as offering seated sports activities to care homes and residential settings, I will be working with healthcare professionals and running sessions for local groups.
“My granddad received care at home and then moved into a care home. They didn’t offer a lot of activities and then Covid made the situation worse.
“It really brought home to me the importance of exercise to keep both the mind and body fit. When I heard about Rise I thought of granddad and how much he would have enjoyed taking part in these adapted sports activities.
“One of the benefits of Rise for older generations is that memories are evoked by the sports. The camaraderie and, dare I say, competitiveness is a joy to see.”
Pam is currently running sessions across Brighton and Hove. Any local groups or residential settings looking for activities either on a one to one basis or in groups can contact Pam on 01273 090570 or email pam.gordon@rise.life or visit https://www.rise.life/.
